About

A small press, made slowly.

Filbert Press is an independent publisher of books about plants, gardening and the natural world — written by experts, designed to inspire and inform.

The Press

F ounded by Anna Mumford in 2015, Filbert Press is now continued by Folko Kullmann as part of PLANTVS — carrying forward a carefully edited list of books on plants, gardens and horticulture.

Filbert Press publishes three or four titles a year, slowly, and keeps them in print. Each book is made in close collaboration with the authors we read most closely, the photographers whose work we trust, and the designers whose attention to the page matches our own. The backlist is actively maintained — books are meant to remain readable for years, not only in their first season.

The list ranges across naturalistic planting, dry gardens, trees, cut flowers, crevice gardens and edible growing. We look for books that take their subjects as seriously as their authors do — and that give voice to designers, gardeners, foresters, ecologists and photographers whose work deserves a wider audience.

Since 2026, Filbert Press is continued under the umbrella of PLANTVS. The Filbert identity, backlist and editorial care remain in place; Folko Kullmann leads the list forward. We work with bookshops, garden specialists and trade partners across the UK, Europe and North America.
