The Cut Flower Sourcebook

Exceptional Perennials and Woody Plants for Cutting

Growing flowers for cutting brings the pleasures of the season indoors and cuts out the air miles associated with many shop-bought blooms. This book turns the spotlight on the best perennials and woody plants which return year after year with little effort or waste, offer valuable habitats to garden wildlife and bring a natural quality to arrangements.

What reviewers said.

It's this sense of seasonality that is at the heart of Siegfried's book, which is an intensely practical guide to what and how to grow to provide cutting material year round.

— Clare Coulson in The Daily Telegraph

What sets this book apart from the others is its focus on perennials and woody shrubs rather than annuals. Entirely worth the initial investment, these plants are the stalwarts of a cutting garden and they are often glossed over in other cut-flower manuals, so this book will be a bible for those who are serious about growing cut flowers.

— Clare Foster, House & Garden

About the author

Rachel Siegfried
Rachel Siegfried

Rachel Siegfried began her career as an estate gardener for the Sainsbury family in a Victorian walled garden, where a course with Sarah Raven first turned her toward cut flowers. In 2008 she founded Green and Gorgeous with her partner Ashley Pearson on a six-acre site in South Oxfordshire, growing British cut flowers alongside vegetables, fruit, bees and chickens. From March to October the farm gate is open on Saturday mornings — visitors wander the rows and leave with stems arranged by Rachel and her team.
